Simple Bread Dough Bait

• 4 slices white bread
• ½ cup cottonseed meal
• Vanilla extract (just enough to moisten)
  Mix until like bread dough. Pinch onto a #12 treble hook. Store leftovers in a sealed bag in the fridge (up to 1 week).

Quick tips & tuning

• Binding: eggs are classic. Egg powder + hot water works for dry storage. Xanthan gum, gelatine, or soy lecithin can help if you want vegetarian binders.
• Flavours: sweet sticky (molasses, maple), fishy (krill, anchovy), creamy (vanilla, caramel), savory (garlic, seafood paste). Use concentrated essences/attractors — a little goes a long way.
• Oils: fish oil, liver oil, or hemp oil added to dry mix overnight will help release scent. For cooked boilies, add oil into the dough before cooking.
• Texture: more semolina/polenta = firmer sinkers; more breadcrumbs/air = softer; micro-balloons = float.
• Testing: always test buoyancy in a bucket. Adjust by +/- 5–10% of the ingredient that controls lift (semolina or microspheres).
• Storage: uncooked dry mixes keep in sealed bags in a cool dry place for months. Cooked boilies freeze best. Groundbait/paste is best used within days unless refrigerated.
• PVA: if you use PVA bags, avoid adding oils directly into the bag (can affect melt rate); stickier dry mixes or groundbait pellets are PVA-friendly when dry.
