What is Bentonite?
Natural Clay: An absorbent, swelling clay mineral used to add heavy weight to light surface mixes (like krill or shrimp meals).
Binder: Provides high plasticity, helping ingredients stick together tightly around a sinker or method feeder before dissolving at a controlled rate underwater
Typical Bentonite Mix Ingredients
When building a custom pack bait or groundbait using bentonite, anglers typically combine it with:
Weight/Base Meals: Fine cornmeal, corn gluten, or breadcrumbs.
Attractors: Sweet corn, creamed corn, molasses, or amino acid-rich fish meals.
Proportions: Bentonite is usually added at around 10% of the dry ingredient weight mix
